MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME

Using the Lounge

Talk games, meet players, or catch up with friends. Sign in with your KIX account, open Player Lounge, and come say hello.

Find your people

Site Chat is the shared room. Use Discover to find another room, or Create room to start your own. Choose an open room, add a password, or keep it unlisted and invite people with a link. A password-protected room still asks new visitors for its password. The room owner can invite players and remove members.

Catch up with a friend

Open Friends and add someone by their public player name. Once they accept, Message opens a conversation for the two of you. Removing a friend closes access to that conversation. Block also stops new friend requests; unblocking leaves you free to send a new request. These friendship controls apply to private conversations, rather than shared text rooms.

Give your room a video table

When creating a room, select Enable room video. You can also enable it later from your room’s video controls. Everyone who opens that room can watch the players sharing video, without joining a separate call or requesting camera access. Your own camera and microphone stay off.

Up to six people can have sharing permission at once; people watching do not take those places. The owner can allow or decline requests to share, stop someone’s sharing while leaving them able to watch and use text chat, or turn room video off for everyone. The shared Site Chat stays text-only.

Watch first, share when you want

Video appears automatically when you open a room with someone sharing. If your browser pauses sound, select Play audio. Mute for me quiets one player on your device. Watching works even if you have no camera or have declined camera and microphone permission.

Want to join in? Select Ask to share. Once the owner allows it, use the microphone or camera button to turn on that device. The owner can select Share camera or mic directly. Your browser only asks for a device when you turn it on. Everyone in the room can see your shared video; people who enter later can see it too.

Turn mic off or Turn camera off stops that device. Stop sharing releases both devices and returns you to watching. Cancel request lets you keep watching without waiting to share. Closing the Lounge, switching rooms, or leaving the page stops receiving and sharing video. Your devices do not resume automatically when you return.

If a connection drops, sharing stops. You can keep using text chat and try sharing again once the connection recovers. Headphones can help when several people are talking.

What happens to your conversations

Ordinary text messages and shared pictures expire after one hour. Report saves that message and nearby conversation, including relevant pictures, for the site administrator to review. Those saved reports remain until the administrator deletes them. The administrator can review text chat in shared, hidden, password-protected, and private rooms. Text chat is not end-to-end encrypted. Other players can keep their own copies of messages and pictures.

KIX does not record or store video or audio from calls. The browsers encrypt call media in transit, connecting directly when possible or through a connection relay when needed. Connection setup uses temporary session and network information; connection messages expire after two minutes and inactive video-session records are cleared after a day by cleanup, which runs when video is used. The connection provider may process network information to connect the call. Direct connections can reveal network addresses to the other participants. People in a call can still make their own recordings outside KIX.

Make it comfortable

Preferences lets you choose whether friends see the game you’re playing, appear offline, and turn message notification sounds on or off. Appearing offline hides your presence from other players; it does not make your posts or watching and sharing room video anonymous, or hide activity from site administration. The number beside Player Lounge counts other visible signed-in players recently active at KIX; they may be playing rather than reading chat.

Use the picture button to share a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF up to 2 MB. Message controls include Report, and room owners have controls to manage their room and video participants.

How KIX counts visits

KIX uses a random first-party browser identifier to count visitors, sessions, page views, and popular games, including guest visits. Its first-party cookie lasts up to one year, with browser storage as a fallback. Reports use broad referral categories such as Facebook or search. Analytics do not store raw IP addresses, account names, full referring URLs, or query strings. Anonymous counts are kept for site reporting and are available only to the administrator. Blocking this tracking does not prevent you from playing.
