About KIX Othello

Othello is a two-player strategy game on an 8×8 board. Place discs to surround straight lines of your opponent’s color and flip them to yours. Play the computer or share a device with a friend. A hands-on example inside How to play shows your first move.

Try taking corners: corner discs cannot be flipped. More discs early does not guarantee a win; the final count matters.

How to play

Black plays first. Tap a gold dot to place a disc. Trap at least one opponent disc between the new disc and another of your color, horizontally, vertically or diagonally. All trapped lines flip. Open How to play for a practice example.

Controls

Tap / click: Place a disc on an empty legal square. Discs already on the board stay where they are.
How to play: Read the rules and try a small interactive example. Available before and during a match.
No legal move: Your turn passes automatically. You cannot skip a turn when a move is available.
Winning: When neither player can move, the higher disc count wins. Equal counts draw.
Drag / Rotate: Move the 3D camera; use Menu to reset it or select flat view.
Undo: Try another turn. In computer mode, also takes back the computer reply.
Menu: Toggle legal-move hints and sound, change view, or start a new match.
